> people are infinitely more complex than I had given thought to

Well, you must have been a particularly naive kid. The basic flow of attraction into addiction is not very hard to understand, especially when you're constantly warned about it. But the fact remains that nicotine is a satisfying nootropic that half of the world enjoys, and it doesn't have any proven effect on neurological development. Kids have been picking up smoking in high school for ages, and you're complaining that they're using a healthier alternative instead. You wanna stop kids from getting fucked up on substances? Why don't we take a closer look at prescription amphetamine or weed?

Speaking as someone who started using a Juul at 17, this is absolutely ridiculous. People are responsible for what they choose to consume. Got asthma? Maybe avoid inhaling chemicals that might affect your condition. Now, I'm 19 and I have to drive to North Carolina (about 30 minutes) to even buy tobacco products, since they raised the legal age to 21 in Virginia. Thanks, nanny. I really hope this little prick goes home empty handed.

I'd just like to know how you come to the conclusion that evening out the demographics in the free software community could in any way improve the quality of projects. I guess you're looking for better harmony in the community? Still, please explain how setting quotas would improve anything, rather than stirring up more strife.
