Funny, I can't do that, because my mind's eye moves with my eyes, and if I count things, my eyes naturally move, so my eye pointing causes the tiger to move rightward which prevents counting the stripes.
Maybe not weird so much as not standard. For example, guitarists with good dynamics-control sound different than guitarists of arbitrary dynamics-control quality with a compressor/limiter at the front of their chain.
As a musician, I’d say no. Sure, you don’t get the significance of “what is this Dorian thing” unless Scarborough Fair is playing, but nothing in the article really applies to hearing music.
