Just what society needs.. more fat controllers bossing everyone around for some arbitrary 'good'. Maybe some people prefer liver disease to sobriety. Maybe they should be allowed to drink themselves to death if they want? It is their choice. Let people take care of themselves and their loved ones, and let them suffer the consequences of their own actions, or be supported through hard times by their loved ones.
I would like a law that lets some people out of both welfare and laws that prevent a person from damaging themselves.
Please don't automatically assume the market is falling short here. Many governments including our own play a huge part in manipulating the price of fuels.

Smart businessmen (with smaller businesses) would just start a new company every year and move the profit from 1 to another. It isn't a very big accounting challenge to change which one of the companies you control shows a profit.
Or maybe some people can move to farms, supplying more farm labor, sending farm worker wages down, and lowering the price of food to close to nothing? Ohh wait... minimum wage laws stop that from happening.
Every tax creates distortions. If the tax break was high enough it would encourage people and corporations with extremely high incomes to hire people for 366 days and then fire them and hire another domestic replacement.
hey.. I haven't done extensive research, but I have read several articles claiming that saying that mining the materials that go into batteries is a very very dirty process and pollutes the entire area around the mining operation, and the energy cost of producing a battery is very high.
I have a feeling that once the technology has been around for awhile it will get cleaner, but who knows...
I would love to know more if anyone else has done more research.
They are all responsible for placing the idiotic ban on incandescent bulbs to begin with. The federal govt has no business legislating the everyday minutiae of our lives.
Prehaps they all benefited, but it seems as if the bailouts benefited the most irresponsible people far more than the rest of society.
The banks should have been allowed to fail. The only reason capitalism works is by providing a huge incentive to do things right. Bailouts like these will convince companies they can get away with the same thing in the future.
I use a firefox treetabs plugin that makes trees of tabs vertically on the left side of the monitor. ive had about 50-60 tabs/window with 3 windows open before, while running firebug. With that many on firefox 3/4 it was crashing if I ran it overnight, but it does seem to be improving now. Hopefully 7 will be a dramatic improvement.
I normally love Mark Cubans blog, but this is a terrible idea. If a company cant afford to keep employees it shouldn't hire them. This would be almost as bad as the bailouts were.
This would send inflation skyrocketing.
What happens to all of those small companies that don't have the connections or legal know-how to get the government money? They go out of business because they would not be able to afford the new inflated cost of hiring.
What happens to the people who can barely scrape a living out of their current wage when the inflation this would cause sends food prices sky rocketing?
The problem isn't cash, its capital goods, and flooding the system with cash will just cause damage to companies who are to small to move fast enough to acquire large amounts of the flood.
There is a little bit of good information in there, but his theories of value are terrible. When you read this do yourself a favor and research the subjective theory of value as well. It describes the real world far better than the labor theory of value.
