I’ve been using a pi3 for about a year as a full time VPN on my cell phone and laptops.
3 is only 100mbit eth, but I’ve had almost no issues with it. Connects fast, no problem streaming HD video or cloning huge git repos. Maybe when I get home today I’ll take some measurements.... But my biggest issue is the trash Powerline Ethernet between my router and rest of my network.
> Police like guards all over, waiting rooms that feel like air locks with doors between the waiting area and the inside. Metal detectors and wands. Cash only with an ATM with yet another line, then a line to the counter
Living in Portland, OR that experience is wild to me. All of the shops I’ve been to don’t have any guards, just an employee during the required ID check.
Ive had a WireGuard install running for about 6 months on a pi and as far as I can tell it hasn’t been a bottleneck. Plenty of spare cpu and bandwidth. And I’m using the 3 which only has 100mbit Ethernet.
Granted I don’t generally watch a ton of streaming video and it’s mostly just me on my network, but no issues watching YouTube or doing anything else.
I really can’t state enough how much I love my wireguard/pi hole setup.
I’ve been using a projector as my only tv for years, and even during the daytime it’s still usable. It definitely is better in the dark, but usually I don’t even close my blinds during the day.
I’ve had to replace the bulb once in about 4 years. Or rather the timer went off to warn me and I replaced it — bulb was still working though. New lamp was fairly cheap too IIRC, $40, maybe less?
And I can take it with me, or outside in my backyard for a movie night. I probably won’t ever go back to smart or dumb tvs
After 12 years of catholic school, I don't recall anything specifically, although I bet some would argue the commandment 'you shall not commit adultery' might cover that.
What I do know is there is a ton of stuff the bible recommends that Christians are happy to ignore. At least anecdotally in the Catholic community I grew up in in NE Philadelphia.
I never had a problem with formatting code in slack until this release. And the hotkey (Shit+Cmd+C) doesn't work for me, although that might be my window manager interfering.
Most of the changes they are touting as improvements sound horrid to me.
Amazon...? WiFi? Every park Ive been to is already crawling with tourists with selfie sticks, or that one guy who thinks I want to listen to his Spotify station.
Now if they were suggesting to surround the parks in faraday cages we’d be onto something!
It’s very depressing, I also TA’d in college and ended up grading one of the mid terms for a programming class I had the previous semester. I found a group of students who clearly shared some code over gchat or something... weird variable names and unique code structure that was clearly copied among 5 or so students.
I was told by the professor to not fail them, just give them 0 for the question. Cheating was rampant in my program and the institution’s response to push them through was disheartening. We also had a “code of conduct”. These were all US students, I think cheating is just a huge problem in Universities all over the world.
At one of my previous gigs there was a big push to get out of the colo and into the cloud, part of which because of perceived “cost savings” vs running our own hardware. I think most of it was “everyone else is moving to AWS”.
All I know is we never had a $30,000 “oopsie” in the data center because a dev left a bunch of stuff running they should have shut down.
From what I recall from various forums and reddit threads it was not just users who generated sexually explicit content, but any streamer judged to be a “thot”.
