Nice to see Setsukos blog here on hackernews! She has done a lot of great interviews with sceners over the years you should check out.

I met her once at Tokyo Demofest, and I still feel bad about making her try the Swedish licorice I had brought... :)

Most typefaces all look the same to me... I think I'm typeface blind if there is such a thing. It's all just text to me...

You kind of miss what the UNESCO Intangible Heritage list is actually about. It’s not like they’re handing out gold stars to things they think are "the best" or most "exceptional.

The whole point is to recognize and help preserve living traditions.

A cool feature for sure, but, kind of ruins the whole concept of that a chiptune is. For me its about the limitation of the system. If that is not one of the core reasons you are into chiptunes you might as well use whatever you like to make music that go plipediblop. (edit): Then again, i have always considered mod and xms that use samples and sound like chiptunes to also be chiptunes even though they fall outside of the true definition.

My question was also genuine. I was curious. Its not a common thing to wear.

My parents are 20 years younger than this aunt and if I introduced these types of changes to make it "easier" for them, I would have to help them out even more. My mother would have even bigger technophobic breakdowns because of her not understanding how things work. And if anything, she would love to revert back to 1980s technology that is straight forward instead of having to learn some high-tech magic voice assistant of teh phuture to change the channel.

I say, keep it simple, keep it familiar. I am 100% sure this will backfire.
