They wouldn't question this if the VR Apple had smell or taste. They are assuming that because the technology doesn't exist today it can't be true. They would say the same thing it the early 1700 if you told them that we will one day fly across the sky and talk on little devices. The magic behind this is that the technology has yet to be invented so people cant comprehend how it works. Even if we are in a simulation. Anyone who codes or understand AI at its lowest form will understand that we ourselfs are just 1's and 0's.
These are really great points. The thought process is that it will be used for authentication and recovery. I would say Virtual Numbers are a concern but most cost money and an email is free to create. Which was why I said better control spam. If they want to pay money to be a clown and troll I've already won anyway.
I think you are right about the concern of privacy. The scary part is most don't even read the Terms and Policy Agreement.
LinkedIn is very resourceful for both Recruiting and Job Searching. Doesn't matter if you're looking for big or small their database is large enough to find niche markets for both the employee and employer.
If you're just in need of a brand kit $1,500 sounds pretty reasonable if it's a profressional agency. Specially if that covers a name, logo, icons, colors and fonts.
I would stay away from 99Designs because if you're launching a beta you'll need someone to also help iterate any changes based on feedback. So quick and close communication is important.
if you need any further input on what kind of things you should be looking for from a designer send me an email.
I've helped over 12 startups with branding including 2 YC startups.
I semi get the branding inspiration behind the genie. You tried to pick something that can offer you unlimited service. Which I guess in hand matches your product.
The problem isn't that you have a genie, the problem is that you have to tell people it's a genie.
A few things to mention about the brand is that a genie and the name companyhub don't really blend well. When ever I brand something I look at the name, the product and the vision. I ask myself what icons, letters, colors can I use or combine that tell what my product does with out having to say it.
Also the logo it's self is not really iconic and memorable. I'd say explore your options, if for some reason you want to stay with the genie theme maybe try a genie lamp instead.
I agree with all that. I've got a few ideas myself but as a designer with only frontend skills I can only go so far. Normally if I build something or design a prototype its easier to find someone who wants to join. They'll have a better understanding of the product and workflow. Right now I have a Saas startup in SF we are looking for a marketing/biz dev cofounder. Products in hand launching August. Also always looking for someone great at marketing like I said shoot me an email and we'll connect. If you have angellist follow me their too. Angel.co/brayson-ware
I find it crazy that you have the funds and those kinda revenues but can't find the talent. Don't take this wrong but could be people don't want to work with you. I don't know you but there's definitely something not right. It also could just be that most of the "WOW" Developers work on their own projects by themselves. If they really like you, your idea/concepts and you have the funds to support it, you shouldn't have a problem.
I agree you shouldn't share the URL, someone could easily copy the startup or model. What I don't agree with is that someone would be able to execute it properly.
Have you ever wondered why the average job is 40 hours/wk?
That's because the quality of work an employees produces dramatically decreases working more than that. Over time an employee working 60+ Hours per week will become exhausted and drained physically and mentally. Which will make them lose passion, less focused and become very unhappy with their job.
40-50 hours give that individual enough time to complete reasonable tasks and still have a work life balance. Employees who have more time to spend with family, friends and on their hobbies have shown to produce higher quality work and are more committed to their jobs.
You also shouldn't be worried about how long an employee works but how well they work.
This is something we are discussing as well. We are weighing all of our options but gotta move quickly. We think having a technical cofounder has its advantages for championing ideas, improvements and reassurance. Its hard to find talent that sees beyond the code that doesn't want to work on their own ideas by themselves.
We also think finding the right contractor is smart idea too because it will allow us to make the changes without equity like you said. Which than we can scale the product on our own to get the traction/funding we need to hire the right CTO.
We've really only had one investor question us on not having a CTO anyway.
