If this is essentially a hashcash, what prevents them from swapping that out for a cryptominer after getting an established user base (if they aren’t already mining)?
Why does Comcast continue to fight fiber installations when 5G is on the horizon and likely to draw consumers away to the other big providers (AT&T, Verizon, and others)? To me, that seems like the bigger battle for Comcast.
Secondly, does anyone think it wise to bond $145m as the city did with wireless advances on the horizon? Especially when so far only a couple dozen homes have been connected?
I suppose Comcast can and will fight on multiple fronts, so going after municipal services isn’t mutually exclusive to 5G, but both seem like a losing battle for ‘ye olde Comcast. I just wonder if in 10 years we’ll hear a story about how Comcast “saved” a city $150m by lobbying against a fiber project and prevailing but all the residents ultimately left Comcast for a wireless provider.
Donald Trump very likely controls his own Twitter account, personally, with very little input from staff before hitting submit.
This is contrary to other public figures, such as Barack Obama, who had communications staff manage his Twitter account.
Part of Donald Trump’s “draw” if you will is that his messaging is nearly completely unfiltered, raw, and as close to his stream of thought as anyone has ever likely seen from a President in the modern era.
As for how dangerous that is, I’m sure people will be discussing that for years to come.
In his capacity as President of the United States, Donald Trump has the ultimate authority to declassify any executive branch material. So technically, he declassified the material the moment he sent the tweet, assuming the imagery was classified in the first place. I’m unsure if anyone has determined exactly how classified the material was: confidential, secret, top secret.
For anyone thinking that the President should have a process to declassify information like everyone else in the intelligence community: There likely is one, but the ultimate authority to enforce it is vested with the Office of the President and the President likely chose to disregard it by tweeting.
