Now that we are here, calling exiles anti-Cuban is also a good way to piss them off. That's the government stance: if you are against us, you are anti-Cuban.

This is not only a stance towards exilees, btw. If you oppose them, you get labelled the same no matter where you are.

All that is cool, but I don't want Signal to advertise my presence to anybody that has my phone number when I first log in after a fresh install.

I have only a handful of people that know and we negotiated that face to face prior, Signal breaks that trust

Signal is also shitty in the sense that it announces your presence to anyone that is using the service prior to you and has your number.

If you only want some people to know you are there, you are screwed
