Probably not necessarily on topic - but I really want to give a shout out to Mr. Fowler. It’s really hard to find anyone in contemporary and practical software engineering who has been as impactful as he has been. A lot of modern concepts that improve software development has a seminal article authored or made visible by him.
It should not be about feeling bad or better presentation. The only filter that should be applied is whether the information is scientifically valid and relevant. This is usually a bad faith argument, that interestingly climate change deniers push.
The only way to be successful with EVs is to have substantial scale and that scale needs 10’s of billions of dollars, which means public markets or huge private rounds which also means dilution. Many things that are probably unpalatable to Mr.Dyson.
I have been following Tesla closely for the last 5 years. The amount of FUD has been astounding considering no other car manufacturer has managed to launch a mass market electric car. Analysis after analysis say that competition is right around the corner or NIO is going to beat Tesla. Question is If these misleading articles/statements are ethical?
I went through some loss(dad) recently and I realized that I had an inherent need to communicate my feelings to my wife to make sense of it. I discussed why I was feeling what I was feeling and understand how my mind was dealing with loss. This strengthened my relationship with my wife and made me stronger as a person.
Sugar industry mirrors the approach that the oil industry has taken. Both should be addressed aggressively by introducing real education, researching and developing worthwhile alternatives. Both have unprecedented costs to humanity.
Congratulations Alex & co for a great exit. I think the price is great considering that it is pretty much impossible to survive as an independent company in the infra space.
I doubt it's that simple. There are things you should just quit - things that mess with your mental stability. Then there are things that exercise the right muscles but is downright hard, the ones you should persist for the value you gain at the end of it. Being patient is a great virtue till it isn't.
Email marketing is such a thankless process, with really low conversion of any sorts and irritation the usual emotion associated with it. Having sent several cold campaigns and reported on (sorry) we just stopped it entirely. Unless you have a credible brand sending emails is like having a twitter handle.
I completely agree with this premise. Nowhere is it more obvious than in OSS companies. There is no open source business model that cannot be disrupted by the cloud bigs which also include Microsoft.
