Gone are the days where low interest rates could foster dreams of a harmonious world built on renewable energy, equality and independent central banks. In 2023, world economies will shift into War Economy mode, where sovereign economic gains and self-reliance trump globalisation.
Our 2023 Outrageous Predictions revolve around how countries’ focus on asserting themselves will affect the global economy and political agenda.
This!
In my case, connecting to enterprise's walled gardens, such as an Outlook Exchange server or Skype for Business, etc. typically don't have out-of-the-box solutions for consumers on linux.
2 apps I paid for are those for which I couldn't really find a nice/free alternative:
1. Hiri https://www.hiri.com/ as I couldn't find a nice email client to work with Outlook Exchange
2. https://tel.red/linux.php Skype for Business client for linux
I think this category of apps have something going for them.
I have since moved to WSL2 though and have found it to be a nice compromise for even serious work.
I benefited immensely from taking the course. I have no personal benefit or stake in the program.
The author/program does use evernote primarily as the tool but the technique/process/workflow is independent of tool ( I think they do address notion and onenote as well if that's what works for you ).
I'll give you one perspective: a lot of enterprise apps are developed for Android as well, though not at all for Linux.
While using Linux, I may not be able to access my organization's Exchange server from Linux ( at least not without running quite a few hoops ) OR I can install one of the myriad suite of enterprise apps for Android that let you access your enterprise exchange.
Similarly, 2FA token generation apps for the enterprise are not all made for linux but you can install an android app for it.
Idea is: use linux for your workflow, android apps for connectivity to your organization's walled garden.
It greatly helped me to buy noise-cancellation headphones.
The newer Sony 1000mx3 are great...a bit pricey but have helped me so much in an open office environment.
The key to organisation is a WORKFLOW, followed by tools that fit your workflow.
I found and paid for https://www.buildingasecondbrain.com/ . It was immensely useful for me. The course provides a workflow specifically on managing all the information that feeds into our lives and shows you how to use Evernote to do this.
Happy to answer any questions from my experience.
Perhaps the point was not merely regurgitation of facts but an analysis of your thought-process. It is almost impossible to have such an esoteric bit of trivia but you could have at least given them something:
"...Well I dunno but let's see...Filesystem Z(let's say reiserfs)...so this one's pretty good with really large files...its preferred to other ones(say ext2) for both support of larger files and better disk checking...at the time of distro x, version y, filesystem D(that you may be familiar with) hadn't even come out and was probably an improvement over Z, so I'd wager less bytes per block than filesytem D but more than...."
...or so could be a possible response...I hope I am getting my point through, though of course you're the one to have lived through the day and not me and I'm sure your reply was what you felt best, at the time.
There's a book called "Simply Scheme" that is meant to serve as an introduction to SICP. So, you could "prep" yourself for your pursuits if you first go through this book.
Good Luck,
Shubham Harnal.
This is an interesting take on learning things right the first time around (the historyof HTML has been riddled with right and wrong ways to do things).
Since HTML alone doesn't suffice anymore, "Head First HTML, XHTML and CSS" is a pretty good place to get started.
I apologize for taking sooo long to get back to you on this:
I own a pair of Sphere Halogens. I bought them since I felt at the end of the day(having stared at the screen for hours together, that I had eye-fatigue, related headaches and dryness.) After trying out the Halogens for a few days, instant relief! I would say it is totally worthwhile expenditure if you feel eye fatigue; obviously a whole lotta people seem to do good without them...so good for them. They have really helped me alleviate my eye-fatigue and I can now work longer on my computer and follow-up on other things in life after having worked on computers, without feeling burnt-out. Hope this helps.
This has been happening to me for a looong while! Its reasonable since I didn't really take initiative(quick enough, atleast) for it to be "my" project.
Technology is a weird thing; inspite of being unpredictable, there are milestones we know that will be reached; how they are reached, how soon they are reached or who does, is a matter of initiative, luck and money.
I would suggest that you look at it as an opportunity; get in touch with the guys who're onto the idea now and express how passionate you are about this; share your ideas, and any work you've done on it yet.
In short, try and jump into it with those guys! You may hit upon more than you were expecting: they're obviously people who got started and who think alike: Match made in heaven?
