When a military force puts its assets under civilian infrastructure, that forces your enemy to flirt with near-genocide in order to protect themselves.

There is no good guy nor bad guy in this fight. Only bad guys. Unfortunately innocents get caught up in the crossfire. Welcome to humanity, war is what we do. Stop trying to pick a side and start speaking out against all violence. People might be more willing to hear you out.

It seems like your take on this statement from Google is highly subjective.

Reading into these statements is a mistake. It's full of soft language, which in context can be twisted to fit anyone's perception. I'm not defending Google; I am defending the termination of employees that have obviously prioritized the wrong things in their careers, or did not have the mentorship available to guide them to better ways of expressing themselves other than corporate sabotage.

Also you're adding that word impartial as if they used it, but they didn't. Impartiality infers some personal lack of favoritism. A private company can obviously play favorites with whatever they think will make them more money as part of their mission.

Politics do not belong in the work place or at the dinner table. They belong in your head and to be cast on your annual voter ballot, and if you feel like expressing yourself: penned in letters/tweeted to your various representatives, and nowhere else. I don't mind it being on socials as long as there's a way to filter it out of my feed.

People used to say it a lot: never talk about politics or religion unless you want to make enemies out of your friends/family. It's still good advice, even if no one is listening. Be the change you want to see in the world (Nelson Mandela). If you want to be objective, start from there, don't start in your boss' boss' boss' boss' office.

You're partly correct. Our economy runs on consumption. Housing is a consumable, of sorts. Then you consume home appliances, furniture, textiles, etc. People consume more when they own, and less when they rent.

Really? The reasons you gave are perpetual. Don't you think that the real reason, in this moment in history, is that landlords are colluding on rents? If we enforced anti-competitive laws, and raised property taxes in the suburbs to a level commensurate with the maintenance costs of those areas' infrastructure, it would solve a lot of these problems.

> the nature of working for a company is that you need to align yourself with the company's mission and methods

This is correct for any business. If you ran a business, would you tolerate any employee who attempts to subvert your products and revenue?

So glad I don't use either MS or GOOG browsers so I don't have to witness this childish behavior myself.

I smell sarcasm! :) But seriously, riding the subway is not a right. They make rules for the subway and enforce them at their own leisure. But it's 100% legal to turn someone away if they don't comply with rules they make up themselves. MTA is a private entity.

I would define a "bad" company as one that puts profits over people. People includes customers (incl b2b) and employees. A "good" company is one that realizes treating people with respect is a long-term profit driver.

I found an audio tape single from the mid 90s last week and played it on an old tape deck. Sounded great, but I may have nostalgia-bias.

From the article (buried in the middle):

But its decision to pull back across the Dnipro river was treated with caution by Ukrainian officials.

"Actions speak louder than words," said presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak.

"We see no signs that Russia is leaving Kherson without a fight... [Ukraine] is liberating territories based on intelligence data, not staged TV statements."

Assuming you're using A440. I do not see a way to change it to my preferred reference frequency A432.

What's the environmental impact for adding more cheap plastic to all of the things? Serious question. The onus should be placed on the producer to ensure they are sustainable (the opposite of how it's always been done, by the consumer). The article makes no mention of this.

I get that we're still at the laboratory phase, but I think it should still be part of the discussion.

Late to the party but:

Bose noise canceling headphones and Instrumental music: Mostly techno (jungle/house), jazz sometimes.

Random thoughts go on a list (pen and paper--no context switching on my computer).

At end of day, make a list of things to do first thing the next morning.

Once a week, go through all my notes and condense/backlog; ensure my roadmap lines up with my tasks and re-prioritize as needed. I try to have all my meetings on this day also, which gives me large blocks of time to focus on other days.
