The thing about Windows is it doesn't get out of way and let you work. It constantly badgers you like some bad 90's shareware. And this doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me, is people accept it.
I guess it no different that eating crappy fast food everyday for lunch or dinner.
I don't even care at this point. I used to advocate for Firefox and Chrome on Windows platform but it just seems silly to try to force Microsoft's hand to make their platform neutral to competitors. It's like walking into a Ford Dealership wanting them to support Toyota Trucks. The better choice is to leave Windows. Mac, Chromebook and Linux a all very good options.
Steam is the best thing to happen to gaming. My library is always updated. I'm able to play most of my catalog of games on Windows, Linux and here soon on Chromebooks. Since I started to use Steam I have amassed a HUGE library that I periodically have dig into and find stuff. It's really is amazing.
Yep, I can't sell old games and yes there's a bunch of freemium games that are focused on addicts but who cares. Yep Rocket League you changed. I still play it but if I decide not to there's a ton of other games for my attention.
I have a Raspberry Pi 400 and it does a pretty good job as a desktop. I also have a HP x360 laptop from 2017 with Windows 10 and it's HORRIBLY SLOW and constantly kicks on the fan. I'm convinced that cahoots with the hardware manufacturers.
Not commuting saves me about an hour each day. I feel less stressed from not fighting it out in traffic. It's also nice saving a bunch money from not paying for gas, parking and eating out.
I guess it depends on the job and position and person.
