Typically elements that don't match the page theme are advertisements, and unless it was pointed out in this article, my brain would probably filter it out as noise believing it to be an ad.

Beat to appoint a new captain to blame when the ship goes down.

like their glasses, there's a limited supply and then they're not produced for a while. I think it's taken them around 4 years to do two iterations on their glasses.

Twitter is already a cesspool. I doubt it could get any worse. The only real change I see is more users crying that theres more "transphobia" on the platform.

We're about to see a digital clash of cultures.

I think you undervalue how political the corporation of Twitter has become. That's where a lot of the red tape for changes were, and that red tape gets nuked if Twitter accepts his offer.

the blue check is already meaningless. It's been handed out to people with 100's of followers and no names.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't understand why we'd be exporting oil while also importing millions of barrels from Russia a month. [1]

Certainly it's more cost effective to obtain it domestically than to import it from the other side of the world?

I've been diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD. I wanted an alternative to medication and subscribed to Headspace. I allotted 60 days and 5 to 15 minutes a morning for meditation. For the last two weeks of the experiment, I increased the time to 30 minutes, and occasionally sat down twice a day. During this time, I was also reading "The Power Of Now" by Eckart Tolle. After the 60 days I reduced my practice back to a couple days a week.

The first few days felt silly. I didn't feel an improvement, understand what the point of meditation was, and didn't believe I was doing it correctly. Gradually over time, I began to feel more relaxed throughout the day. Situations that would normally cause my anxiety to rise did not affect me. My focus improved drastically and I was able to concentrate for longer. I felt exponentially more comfortable in social situations. In one specific instance at the height of my practice, I had two different friends comment positively on a noticeable difference in my “energy”.

Towards the end of my 60 days, I increased the time I was sitting down since I experienced a marginal improvement. The unexpected consequence was that I no longer cared about most things. I won’t say I was enlightened by any means, but I no longer needed external stimulus or material things to be happy. I felt indifferent towards most critical components of my life. Why did I need a job? Why do I need money? To buy material objects I don’t need? This pattern of though cascaded across all other aspects of my life. At this point in time, I legitimately believe I could be homeless and happy.

This transcendence scared me, and I cut down to a couple days a week. As it turns out, even balance needs balance.

Python Crash Course by Eric Mathes is updated up to Python 3.7 and uses Sublime as the editor of choice also.

I'm not surprised since a large percentage of crypto buyers are millennials that grew up during the great meme boom of the 2000's.

> What I think would be nice is if there we tools that better allowed us to create "social gardens" on platforms like Twitter, platforms that allowed us to better cultivate the topics we care about while allowing us to keep out some stray topic from someone who we otherwise follow because of something entirely different.

isn't this essentially what mastodon is?

I see how you can reach a generational correlation, but I believe it's a age issue that isn't unique to any generation.

The younger people want the pop and sparkles. The older people want what they're using to simply work because they value their time. The pop and sparkles are a distraction that doesn't add to the functionality.

The Google G1 has been my best experience with a phone to date. I loved that keyboard and have been searching for a phone to scratch that itch ever since.

There are a few devices that are in the physical button niche still, but from smaller companies and on crowd funding platforms. Their specs leave a lot of room for improvement as well and there is there is risk the device is never produced unfortunately. The two that have the most traction right now are the Pro 1X and the Astro Slide 5G.

The Pro 1X is a second generation device that has a bad history with order completion. There are customers who ordered the first generation years ago who never received a phone. They bumped their order to the Pro 1X and are still waiting.

the Astro 5g on the other hand is from Planet Computers. They've successfully produced a couple devices such as the Cosmo Communicator.

I'll hopefully be getting my Astro this month after backing the project since November bof last year.
