While that’s true, proponents of the so called “white erasure” theory had a field day with it because it was essentially doing just that and validating their racist conspiracy theories.
"You'd best start believing in right-wing conspiracy theories. You're living in one."
I think they put quotes around the wrong part of the title.
"Right-Wing" should be in quotes because it is the most dubious part of the title.
I guess we're all right wing now. Why is Bloomberg running cover for Google? It wasn't just that white historical figures were not white, but even requesting them to be white was rejected as problematic.
The fact that someone at Google couldn't understand how utterly useless their product would be is unreal.
Repeat after me. No one wants woke (or otherwise indoctrinated) AI. No one.
We don't need to be scolded by our AI overlords for everyday, real world things, like a photo of George Washington riding a gay unicorn on Uranus.

The quotes aren't scare quotes, they are because material is directly quoted.

Bloomberg is about as woke as Google is today. Of course they consider clearly bigoted bias against White people to be 'rushed' rather then inherently wrong.
OpenAI has done this forever, and ever, and ever.[^1]
There is some factor we're not accounting for that explains why all of a sudden it was an end-of-the-world problem.
What do you think it is?
I do think it was politics / culture war, at least, I permitted myself to think that after I got social permission from right wing AI people who were similarly disgusted by the conversation[^2] and shocked at how puerile and detached from reality it was, compared to what is actually going on, known as early as GPT-2. [^3]
[^1] Prompt: a group of people during the revolutionary war
Revised: A dynamic scene depicting the revolutionary war. There's a group of people drawn from various descents and walks of life including Hispanic, Black, Middle-Eastern, and South Asian men and women.

[^2] ~4 people who have been long-term in the AI community, long before ChatGPT, and self-described right wing. Unsolicted, merely observed, quotes include: "midwit conversation", "unforgivable" "dragged AI into their Woke Right bullshit".
[^3] prompt-rewriting ala Dall-E as shown in [^1]. I confirmed it with someone on Gemini, as well as the much more interesting equivocation issue with larger models https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/t9svvNPNmFf5Qa3TA/mysteries-...

Can you please define a) what you mean by “woke”, and b) exactly how Bloomberg (a financial publication aimed at the ownership class) qualifies?
Last time I checked with my sources at Antifa headquarters, they weren’t getting the latest treatises on Marxist thought from Bloomberg

I don't think anyone was particularly happy seeing diverse Nazi soldiers being generated.
That wasn't on any representation or diversity goals list I'm aware of.
