Shells[1] is a newer option which promotes a virtual desktop but VPS is also an option. They have recently announced partnerships with different Linux distros and offer reasonable prices.
I have also been craving the same and have found myself utilizing a VM on my phone to access the OS of my liking (Manjaro KDE) and being able to do things that I definitely could not do on my phone when I was away from my desktop. I do think at the end of the day, all we yearn for is having the THE desktop experience on our phone.
I have been getting by with an iPad Air that has cellular and wifi connectivity no matter where i go. I do have an iPhone Pro 11 as well. Basically, I just carry these two devices wherever I go. As both are readily connected, it is very convenient for me.
For my iPad though, I also utilize a VM which I access through the Shells.com app. This allows me to have access to a Linux and Windows machine through my iPad so I have everything all in one.
I tend to be on the go a lot, so its great for me to have access to a device that is "always" connected which is why I like my iPad which has both a cellular and wifi connection. I know I could also do the personal hotspot approach, but its just an extra step that I don't like to deal with.
May not be exactly what you are looking for but Shells.com offers VMs with pre-installed OSs as well as the option to bring in your own image if you want.
I really appreciate this article actually. I am very picky about my pens and have very specific criteria before buying a pen. I like the detail here. There are so many factors into buying the right pen.
I suspect things like travel will have some requirements in terms of vaccinations moving forward, so life could also become quite inconvenient if you like moving around that is.
Agreed. I do hope they keep USB-C. The one cable that works for all was actually a convenience for me as I could charge a macbook, ipad, and even a samsung galaxy phone all with the same single cable.
I guess its just a matter of balance at the end of the day and finding what makes sense for your business (which is why some make it and some don't!). Its like investing. You could be conservative and sometimes that rewards you, but at the same time, you will most likely not take the risks that could return big reward.
I agree on the idea around usability of YubiKeys. I have them also and believe they are great, but I never seem to have them when I need them. Of course, maybe its on another floor or another room and I am being lazy not walking over there, but it is an added inconvenience on a process that needs to be balanced between security and convenience.
Boxy for Gmail has made a world of difference for me. Having multiple gmail accounts and being able to easily access all of them in one place has been a huge change for me....
