Honour your promises, or [hopefully] die under the weight of lost court cases... A bad promise made in good faith is still going to surely put you in breach of trading contract when you renege?

I'm amazed you think that way. It's a huge step down, and incredibly customer hostile. I stopped giving JetBrains money when they switched. If there's no perpetual licence, I'm not buying.

In the old world, you bought the latest version, got upgrades for a year - sometimes more, then got a discount on upgrading come a newer version. At any time you stopped paying you kept the latest software, in sync with everyone else. You'd slowly move out of step.

In JetBrain's fabulous con you pay a sub for the latest, and if you decide to stop paying - almost certainly having paid markedly more during the duration of your sub than under the old model - you get shunted to an older version, instantly putting you at least a year out of step with everyone else.

Doesn't have to be entirely slab sided, but going on the couple of people I know using pickups for work, they have added no end of toolboxes, winches, custom mounts, light bars and such so they can do their job miles from anywhere in the dead of night. The lovely clean stealth lines without a horizontal surface in sight of the Tesla seem entirely unfitted for being actually used for real work...

0-60 wouldn't care about drag much at all. Highway cruising would.

No idea, but there's loads of world market crew cab pickups around in the EU these days. Though the insane size stuff like Ford F250 and Humvees only seem to turn up very rarely (thankfully) by personal import, which presumably sidesteps a lot of the regs.

I'd be amazed if Tesla simply chose to ignore the whole market though...

I agree that curvy got taken to excess, but I'd rather go back to something like a Land Rover Defender aesthetic, where every surface is something to stand or mount something on, often with built in grip surface or mounts.

This dystopian cross between stealth bomber and Mad Max is angular, but straight in all the wrong directions.

It looks like it's going to be a challenge to pass EU pedestrian safety regs, but I'm quite impressed they have achieved the ugliest road vehicle bar none. I'm amazed the balance of comments here seems hugely in favour - to me it looks like a wind up!

The Rolls Royce model of pricing: "If you have to ask, you can't afford it".

They've also added a whole load of negative features, or needless complexity, and taken away the helpful in the name of fashion. Maybe I liked coverflow. Or an analogue clock on the lock screen. Maybe I liked big album art on the lockscreen when playing music instead of the absurdly tiny thumbnail of now.

Snow Leopard, iOS 6, Word 6 (or 2003 if we have to take the modern era), all seem easy choices, yet the companies doing it never seem to notice they jumped the shark. Dropbox 10x the size with built in messaging anyone? Thought not. :)

That was always one of the advantages of a mortgage that was commonly mentioned and promoted. That your monthly payment would be effectively pennies after 20 years. Sustained low inflation meant that never came to pass.

It was also one of the reasons for the Weimar Republic's hyperinflation. They started trying to inflate away some of the Versailles war reparations. Which got out of control, and then some.

So do I (2015).

There's roughly half a key of trackpad to the left of F, and roughly 1.5 to the right of J. For me that's mis-aligned with where my hands rest, even if both component blocks are neatly case centred for pretty and symmetric photos.

The moral of which is, I suppose, that personal preferences are hard to align. :)

Long term Mac user, currently with Macbook Pro.

It's Apple that offsets the damn touchpad. I don't want it central to the case, I want it central to the home keys (F and J) of the keyboard.

Apple centres with the case. Which is broken. There's more keys on the right side of a keyboard than the left (without a number pad), thanks to punctuation and brackets, so hands rest slightly left of case centre line.

Truth be told I'd prefer Apple fit a trackpoint, but that's never happening.
