Has the world gone crazy?
Has the world gone crazy?
The funny thing is that people who feel like Brexit, Trump and so on are crazy would say yes, and people who think that Brexit and Trump are the best things to happen in long time will say yes for opposite reasons.

so these people who are upset would never support their lifetime friends during a tough time? even if they were accused of something horrendous ? BTW support doesn't mean you agree with what they did, but you be there whatever the outcome..
Can you imagine complaining about another employee because he attended an event on his own time, representing himself, and not involving the company in any way?
A good HR department would severely reprimand, if not terminate, employees who complained they didn't like this person's off-the-job social activities.

Confusing times I suppose, I hope facebook on-boarding explains all this when they bring new people on?
The left is really feeding the fires on the right when they pitch fits about what people think an do on their own time. The mostly rural Trump supporters get a lot of laughing at when they say things like, "The big city liberals want to tell us what we are and aren't allowed to think."
But that's exactly what this looks like. I'm 100% opposed to Kavanaugh and pretty liberal on most things. I think we do have problems in this country, particularly with the way crimes against women get ignored.
People flipping out at work because a boss has a certain friendship or a political view need to grow the fuck up and get back to work.
There's a certain very tiresome and loud group on the left that really doesn't believe anyone has a right to disagree with them. If you do, you're a monster, probably a rapist thug, and a nazi, and only barely human.
They really aren't helping to promote policies and ideas that I generally support. It would probably attract even more unwanted attention for Facebook to fire them. But at any company not constantly in the spotlight, people filing complaints about what other people do in their own time would get shut down without question.
I'm very critical of facabook in general. I think they make a lot of mistakes and do a lot of shady things. But in this case, I think Zuckerberg telling them to basically fuck off was the right move.
We've seen what happens when you listen to the angry mob and let them get their pitchforks and torches ready. They won't stop until someone loses a job. We saw it with Brendan Eich, and there's no doubt in my mind that any other response from Zuckerberg would've led to an escalating situation where this guy had to leave. That's just not appropriate.
If people don't have a right to their political beliefs and to support their friends out of work, the left deserves people like Trump to tell them to shut up and leave people alone just because they don't agree with everything.
The militant mobs on the left need to stand down so that actual progressives can try and get some work done.

Exactly. I'm "gay married" and I thought what they did to Brendan Eich was wrong. He donated money a few years prior. That's it. He didn't rant and rave at company meetings or take any public action that had anything to do with the company.
Note that the "women" at Facebook are using very specific language. It looks like they're trying to set the stage for a hostile work environment lawsuit all because some man's friend attended a SCOTUS nomination hearing.
