Why is it okay, when promoting one gender, to pingeonhole the other gender? Could the point not have been made without saying all guys are sexist, or pretend not to be (but secretly are), or see something wrong but never speak up (except our author, of course! what a gentlemen).
Yes, there is a disparity when it comes to the sexes in STEM. Yes, there are toxic workplaces and piss poor attitudes. Yes, we (as women, men and whatever floats your boat) should address the issue.
However, we need to address the issues without doing these ridiculous 180 degree flipflops. Sexism isn't cool, no matter the source or the target. This is just a big honking virtue signal piece, with no solutions offered, a lot of blaming, and the stench of sexism still all over it.
Leave it to the male author to repeatedly tell the reader how women are feeling, and how he (and all of the slimy men out there!) can help out the poor women.
Just to top it off, the most interesting quote from the article: "I am a man and I am here to give a man’s voice to all of what women have been saying all along!"
So, women need a mans voice to be heard, says the author?
