It's a good question. How can the GOP benefit from blocking the additional money ($2k checks) to millions of Americans who are hurting so badly.
My only response is that the majority leader of the GOP would rather use the money towards something else; military, large corporations, etc. I've heard claims that they (majority of the GOP) believe that adding the money into the economy would create more debt. At this rate, it would help in the long term.
It's also a strange game and terrible feud that they are playing and stringing along households and small businesses.

Republicanism has basically become a religion. Most of their base supports the part regardless of what it does just based on faith.

"People get the government they deserve. Good, moral people concerned about others get a good, moral government that cares about people. People that are greedy, lazy or apathetic get a government that is greedy, immoral and unconcerned with the public’s welfare. In a democracy, each of us is responsible for the quality of our government.”
It's $2000 of pure inflation - but with the backdrop of the obscene National Defense Authorization Act which is a slap in the face.
I'd like to understand - sincerely! - how such a move can be justified even at a political level. Bloomberg proposes a "rebuff" of Republicans against Trump, but they're paying this rebuff with the anger of millions of Americans that won't receive this money if not for this kind of childish behavior.
So there should be some thing I am missing, I'd like to understand better: what's the justification for such a move, beyond playing this strange game?
