India’s PM Modi accused of ‘treason’ over Pegasus spyware scandal

1. Pegasus spyware is only sold to Sovereign governments, so clearly some government paid for it. If not the Indian government then its a matter of serious concern if China or other neighbouring countries are spying on Indian citizens.
2 Instead of addressing the issue of foreign governments probable spying on Indian citizens, the government blamed the news leak on "western powers" who dont want India to be "developed".
3. The people being surveilled were the leader of the opposition and Chief Justice of the Supreme court and owners of Media houses critical to the government. Which begs a question why are foreign governments interested in survelling the opposition and not the PM himself?
4. Governments reaction to the issue, Instead of considering the issue to be a matter of national security and assuring the nation and opposition that due investigation will be done, the government went of the defensive and said "Ohh we didnt do it".
This kind of handling leads to doubts if the government was indeed involved in the spying of its own citizens and opposition leaders.
