What are you talking about, almost every piece of civilization had been given to us. What you "take" is marginal to the gifts from our forebearers.

Is that supposed to be clever? I was making the point that our "survival of the fittest" narrative is the result of a specific social and economic system, not an inherent part of life. The distinction between "taking" in a negotiation and "creating" within a negotiated labor contract is trivial.
