The definite article 'the' is considered derogatory when used with Ukraine [0].

FWIW, I used "the" with "entire": while I am not a native English speaker nor intimately familiar with the grammar, "in entire <whatever-country>" without the definite article sounds out of place to me.
You can see that I did not use "the" when referring only to Ukraine in a sibling comment.

In English, a more idiomatic way of expressing what you seem to intend with “the entire Ukraine” would be “the entirety of Ukraine” or “the whole of Ukraine”; what you actually wrote is applying a modifier (which happens to go between the article and the noun) to “the Ukraine”, and is out of place exactly to the extent that “the Ukraine” without the modifier is.
Thanks for the explanation! I'll try to keep an eye out for this nuance!
It still sounds weird to just say "entire Ukraine" so I wonder if that would carry the same meaning as "the entirety of Ukraine"?

you dont always need arms to enact resistance.
-as in an environment can be made very hostile to interact with, no arms required
as for the poll it looks like western ukraine would be the most hostile.

Sure, which is also part of Ukraine Russia would be least interested in.
As with most polls[1], very uninformative: if the question was if you would go to war/protests in Eastern Ukraine, I doubt we'd see so many people willing to go that far (other than saying, "I would, but... life, job, family...").
I mean, it's already obvious from the actual situation on the ground in-not-really-Russian-we-promise-occupied part of Ukraine.
[1] most are designed with questions to drive an agenda, not with polls being a bad methodology to gather particular learnings from a sample of the population

This says "in the event of an all-out Russian invasion" ... how about the current creeping duplicitous shadow war?
Salami tactics. If only people would read books...

Sure, maybe people in the western parts of Ukraine. There are lots of people in eastern Ukraine and the capital region who are upset with the neverending political circuses, boundless corruption and criminal, and especially with Ukrainian language and folk culture being shoved down our throats in schools, televised news, rules for businesses, and so on.
Spending 6 month a year in Kyiv (at least before pandemics), and used Russian as my main language. Did not meet any language enforcement so far, except in hysterical RT propaganda.
If you don't want to speak Ukrainian, why do you live in Ukraine?
So what you're saying is that 30% of the people of Ukraine belong in Russia? Duly noted.

The ones who don't want to live in Ukraine, and who want to speak Russian and not Ukrainian, do.
Ukraine is better off without agitators such as yourself actively trying to dilute the culture and language; having lived in Catalonia for many years, I absolutely relate to this.

Does that mean the other half would welcome Russia? In that case Ukraine is so stark divided, that it shouldn’t ever exist as a centralised state? What’s the point of having a state that half of the people don’t see as worth fighting for?
A large portion of the population is indifferent to power, provided they can live their lives without significant disruption.
Not to doubt the will of the Ukrainians, but this seems like a poll that would have heavy time consistency bias.
Everyone is willing to actively resist an invasion until the moment comes to risk your life.

Has the government armed the citizens?
It's so much different really going to war and talking of going to war.
