Sure, DAOs (Decentralized autonomous organizations[0]) have been around for a few years but lately people have been using them to fund raise and try to buy stuff. Famously, "ConstitutionDAO" raised over $40M in an attempt (emphasis on attempt) to buy one of the copies of the US constitution.
Another DAO, "Krause House" is attempting to buy an NBA team.[1]
Instead of having one investor buy a domain, people could fund a DAO to buy the domain. Projects might be able to buy unusually expensive domains that way.
