There's a reason celebrity endorsements work (companies wouldn't do them if they didn't). Even if people know it's a script it's still "something they believe in because otherwise they wouldn't say it."
Larry David admitted he didn't know anything about crypto before doing his ad[0]. The dismissive comments he makes in his usual character's style are actually the right response to most crypto projects!
But George Clooney does probably love Nespresso. :-)

That's why I stopped watching video, with rare exceptions like dancing. No drama, no comedy, nothing. Main form of entertainment is listening to music, in bed, staring at the ceiling.
Because drama and comedy...so George Clooney is always playing George Clooney. Matt Damon is always playing Matt Damon. They're always acting naturally at a deeper level, and they have to have for celebrity reasons a semi-consistent persona in every role. Like Matthew McConaughey, also semi-consistent. I liked his rom-coms while I could still watch them. So in the end it's playing dress-up really. And it's lies.
The second problem is the 2 spatial dimensions, everything you see in 2D is lies. Everything. It's just too easy to distort. That's why I like Hacker News, the social network for essays, it's all just text. Could do it with audio alone.

"Jeff Schaffer, the director of that Super Bowl spot, said in an email that he and Mr. David did not have a comment on the market collapse.
“Unfortunately I don’t think we’d have anything to add as we have no idea how cryptocurrency works (even after having it explained to us repeatedly), don’t own it, and don’t follow its market,” he said. “We just set out to make a funny commercial!”
Priceless.

Celebrities and influencers are literally just paid shills. That's how they make a large portion of their income, through advertising. Of course they aren't personally invested
Adult pretenders.
Much better term than actor.
Lately I’ve come to the conclusion that, if Gwyneth Paltrow is involved in something, that’s a very clear red flag to me.
Where will she infuse her scents, next?!
Hey, "Fortune favours the brave".
They've been brave in accepting payments for Crypto ads and potentially ruining their reputation.

Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow? It's not so surprising actors get paid to promote something. But
how about Bill Clinton and Tony Blair? They both took money to speak at Crypto Bahamas this April.
Sorry but what is this? Does anyone watching Matt Damon in a superb owl advert think "Oh Matt Damon is personally in favor of this" and not "Matt Damon is being paid to read this script".
Does this author think that George Clooney just really fucking loves Nespresso?
