Ask HN: What language to learn this summer?

I recommend Assembly, specifically for classic 8-bit CPUs like the Z80 or 6502. Assembly is unique and fun and, if you go with the classics, the learning curve is shallower and you won't be distracted by the constraints of modern chips such as pipelining and power consumption.
Thank you for the suggestion. Hadn’t considered that at all so will investigate.
To give some context:
Most of my time is spent building interesting apps with Ruby on Rails.
Over the last few years I've tried a raft of JS-frameworks including Angular, Vue, React and some NodeJS things.
I've also experimented with Elixir/Phoenix.
Anyway, I'm curious what people here would recommend and where to start that journey...
Many thanks in advance.
