I read a report earlier that the suicide rate in the United States increased from 16.99 percent in 2011 to 20.86 percent in 2020. The overall suicide rate has risen slowly over the past decade.

Suicide is a serious problem, many times people do not get the corresponding care and guidance and choose to end their lives. Governments and communities need to pay more attention to people's psychological health. Especially during the pandemic, when many people's income is affected and their living burden is increased, people are easier to go to extremes.
There's this strange thing where people can't admit that suicide can sometimes be a rational choice, good for the person and/or society.
Not sure if this delusion is a net benefit, but it would be interesting to see someone attempt to be a pragmatist for such an emotional topic.
