Fun fact: the .ai TLD (http://ai) works by itself, although Hacker News (and probably lots of other things) won't accept it as a valid URL.

All tlds can be used as valid domain name. So you can have http://com/ or bob@com email id.

Browsers won't resolve it, but you can `dig ai.` and go to the IP address http://209.59.119.34
