I, for one, can't wait to order a 2024 IONIC HYUNDAI SILVER WHEELS LED HEADLIGHTS 4WD HIGH SPEED OFF ROAD ELECTIRC VEHICLE CAR AUTOMOBILE 300 MILE RANGE.
Sold by: UBNYUKIBAL
So in the article, it actually says "U.S. auto dealers will be able to sell vehicles on the tech company's platform". This implies dealers aren't out of the loop -- but the only thing I care about is : is pricing going to be transparent, or will there still be the "contact seller for price" crap? Will different Amazon customers see different prices based on some "algorithm"?
It's too bad this is not direct sales. Direct sales are illegal in about 34 states, were you absolutely must by law go thru a car dealer. Direct sales would save a lot of money for people, and probably avoid things like discrimination.
Do I get 5% cashback if I use an Amazon Store Card?
In Italy for a while there were FIATs 500 buyable on amazon.it https://www.media.stellantis.com/it-it/fiat/press/al-via-la-...
So not really first

You still are buying from a dealer. Basically Amazon will be another car listing service like cars.com.
This is actually really cool! Being able to buy a car at a very clear upfront cost, without any haggling, or sleazy dealerships, would be a good experience.
Plus, I doubt that somebody would stock a counterfeit Hyundai at Amazon warehouses, so commingling isn’t an issue.
I wonder if the returns are still free?

New, repackaged Hyundai. Hit a bit on the side, a crack on the windshield, looks like new. /s

If this gains steam, I expect to hear about some shady dealership throwing cars that went through a flood on amazon at some point or something like that.

You should probably read the article. Dealers are still 100% in the loop and you’re not really buying from Amazon.
orders will be fulfilled by a dealer.. so basically this is just lead generation then
I hate Amazon but I hate dealerships more, so I guess this is a good thing overall.
In China, you can even buy helicopters and jets on Alibaba

Having known a hyundai car salesman, this does not seem great for his job.
Having bought a car from a Hyundai salesman and dealt with a dealership's sleazy finance guy, I wish this had happened sooner.
Do we get free returns and refunds for 30 days
