I think you mean 20th anniversary year?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft
It is 30th anniversary year for Warcraft as a whole though:

Warcraft, not world of warcraft.
Warcraft release date: November 15, 1994
Although world of warcraft's release date was November 23, 2004 so the 20th anniversary is at the same time.

Oops, yeah, thx. Either way it's a big anniversary year for their core IP. Really odd not to have a big celebration. Even if they have no major new announcements, just make it a big retro-themed nostalgic event or something.
You almost gave me a heart attack.
I regret not being able to go to any of the Fountain Valley Fry's midnight releases that were hosted by the Blizzard dev teams. I wasn't even in high school yet when those were still being held. In hindsight, I think my mom would have been willing to take me to one if I had asked. It was a ten minute drive from home.
I was really sad when that Fry's closed down. Nearly all of my PC gaming purchases came from there and the ACP Swapmeet up until 2006 or so, when I switched to Steam, so it felt like losing a part of my childhood. I haven't visited the location in a while, but I'm assuming it is still empty and fenced off.

They probably don’t have anything to show. They’re just after acquisition and likely right in the middle of reorg. Kotick left a few months ago, management purges are probably in full swing.
Doesn't immediately improve earnings by 20%, doesn't have GenAI.
No buzzwords = no BlizzCon.
No buzzwords = no BlizzCon.
Do you not have games?
I wonder if this is partly because there has been a significant backlash from gamers against various big studios for everything from terms of service dark patterns to digital games being shut down or deleted to controversies around woke editing of games by groups like Sweet Baby. With Blizzard I know many people angered by forced terms of service.

Odd not to have Blizzcon on WoW's 30th anniversary year. Seems serious.
