I agree, the problem definitely exists. When you mentioned that the content your friends send you tends to be higher quality, I totally get that. Personally, my friends and I usually share things through WhatsApp or Instagram. However, that doesn’t stop the doomscrolling we all end up doing.
What I’m trying to say is that, given how easy it is to send content on WhatsApp and Instagram, it’s hard to imagine someone logging into a website just to share a link when they could just do it in their friends’ WhatsApp group. Maybe you could think about creating something more accessible. You mentioned a Chrome extension, which could help, but it’s well-known that about 58% of internet users are on mobile. When I go to share a link, my social media apps are already right there, ready to go.
I’m just thinking about how people would use it day-to-day. Don’t get me wrong—I think it’s a great idea! But maybe making it a bit easier for people to share content could help with adoption.

It seems like this is mostly aggregating a feed of links. And that is helpful, but I think it'll be even more helpful/valuable when the links can be curated in some way that gives an added sense of context, priority or importance. Without this, it'd likely be a pretty random mix of content, unless the collaborators all stick to a well defined topic.
I used to spend hours consuming content, and realized that the content didn't end up making me feel happier or more productive.
AI generated bloat content is increasing, and I've realized that the quality density of the content that my friends send me is way higher.
This is why I built Curatee - a way to follow the content that people you know share. The (hyperbolic) mission can be found at https://www.curatee.co/mission, and an example page at https://www.curatee.co/u/het.
I am currently working on a chrome extension, auto summaries, and an iOS app for the same. Also trying to solve the cold start problem by creating accounts that fetch and post content themselves (think for example the DeepMind blog).
I'd love to hear your feedback, suggestions, and criticism! I know the problem exists, I'm just not sure about the solution I built.
