Well bin Laden was something of a scholar. He actually wrote a "letter to America" shortly after 911, setting out, in a hierarchy of labelled premises (like in a philosophy paper) a systemic case for 911. It's virtually censored in the US and no major outlet has ever carried it.
Despite the existence of documented motives as laid out here, to this day the official US position on 911 causation remains "they hated us for our freedom". I wonder if that's what's being taught in schools.
