The usual drawback for using .net was the difference in cost compared to using an alternative like php/ruby,but their are cloud hosting alternatives for .net now so it seems that drawback is changing. Likewise as the others have mentioned, if your co-founder is wiz at it,then go for it, you can always change and iterate later.
Interesting idea, I sent my girlfriend a soppy message for the heck of it and I'm thinking of sending myself some tech message reminders for example re-check this framework/site/idea/open source project in 6 months.
I'm always finding stuff that I'm interested in but don't necessarily have a use for now or I'm interested in seeing how the project turns out in the future, this will send me a reminder that I will actually take note of.
Just out of interest, but how big do you estimate the South African market size to be for this? And if looking at it globally, would Americans be will to trust personal data to a South African business or any business for that manner? Especially in light of the recent coups by Anon and Lulz? Btw South African too!
This is brilliant,im constantly playing around with ideas using Firebug and then having to take a screenshot and mailing it,now its much simpler. Plus having the site with modified css open in the browser window makes it so much more intuitive for the viewer as opposed to an image. brilliant!
I've been naïve in thinking that the hosting would have any effect on it, though you're right with regards to the jurisdiction to shut it down. I'll have to investigate it further. I could register the business in another country but that would involve cost that I don't think I'm willing to front for a weekend project and has a certain dodgy feeling attached as well. With regards to the states, I would have to investigate each states legislation as well, before I could allow entry to participants to my understanding.
Throwing my 2 cents in here but I just wonder whether by giving them right to choose culture we would inadvertently have already made that decision for them.
