If you don't want to code on it, windows is fine. (and if you can get past them violating your privacy)
If you need to code on it.... just don't
I love my windows machine for doing all my leisure activities. Its a shame that after all these years they can't learn from linux/mac and make a decent dev environment
I remember how mind blowing it was to install pip/python on my windows when I was first starting out. Easily installing packages from the cmd, so revolutionary! /s
I think it stems from the formation of our country. Back when the U.S. first formed the states were very much separate from each other and the federal government had very limited powers. Similar to the relationship of Europe and the E.U. However Over time U.S. citizens started to think of themselves as americans first and their state second.
Think about how european citizens feel about the E.U. Today it would be crazy to ask a country like Germany to just roll over to the demands of the E.U. But I'm sure 200 years from now, if the E.U. is still around, that line will be a lot more blurry. This is essentially the position america is in.
Fun fact: At one point U.S. states each had their own currencies
My complete guess based is that the body is either already cremated, or in the hands of the family of the deceased. And they wouldn't exactly be jumping at the opportunity to let the police mess with their dead relative.
It's just politicking, its "worth it" because they get to flex their muscle and show the world that they don't need apple's cooperation to get what they want.
If highlights brought them all their most important fans tweets so that they only had to check their twitter feed once a day why woudln't they want to use it?
Granted they would still use it to promote their stuff. But they wouldn't have to check their feed which is the cause of stress and info overload
It is alot more stressful for content creators like youtube personalities who tweets out constantly instead of being a consumer. Because you have to make sure you don't miss any import people tweeting at you. And you have to make sure you make your audience happy. Most youtube stars hate twitter because it's such a burden to having to keep up with their audience.
Twitter can't afford to loose these people because they are the ones who create all the tweets most people come to twitter to consume.
The article decries constantly checking up on the news filling your mind with things that do not actually effect you which leads you to a more unproductive day. I signed up for grasswire a couple minutes ago and at the first moment I'm bombarded with a twitter-like feed of random news events all that have nothing to do with me.
How is this addressing the frustrations you claim to have in common with Swartz?
Does it worry anyone else that China is starting to review code before allowing it to be released? I can definitely see the US doing some thing like this, especially if companies continue to get hacked.
Imagine having to wait 3 months before you can launch your start up because you have to get the corresponding permits and have your code reviewed.
I don't think he was implying that every week should be 80 week death march.
I think instead he was saying that when something is due the next day. He doesn't want someone who just clocks out because 5 pm came around. He wants someone who cares enough to stick around till they have something working for the demo they have tomorrow
