Does Ballmer still reside in Seattle? As someone who does, even the idea of a Seattle/Microsoft guy buying a basketball team will surely raise curiousity (warranted or not).
I thought the same thing — also, that it discusses "red", "yellow", and "green" states of the plugin. I looked up at the Firefox Toolbar and noticed it was, indeed, "red". So I figured, OK, it must have detected some sort of tracker on this page...
Yet! The color of the icon in the toolbar is not indicative of this, as far as I can tell. The colors actually refer to the little slider that appears once you click the icon. I believe they should consider making the icon a neutral color, or change color depending on the "cleanliness" of a site's trackers. Not sure if the latter is possible, however.
In any case, I'm very much excited to see something like this from EFF.
This product keeps your personal Amazon shopping account out of the hands of the rest of your family. With Dash, it seems, your 7 year old can add items to your shopping list without being able to Checkout... or, your wife can add items to your weekly grocery list without seeing what you've got in your shopping cart for your upcoming anniversary.
It gives everyone "Add" ability without having to log them into an Amazon account on everyone's smartphone.
Though... I guess this could be solved with a token... but in general the more I think about it, the more it seems to be considered in terms of keeping your family connected without them being "too" connected.

The last time I used Firefox (when Australis moved from Nightly to Aurora) the inspector still lacked the completely-necessary function of adding/creating new rules and classes to a stylesheet. Chrome DevTools have a little "+" that lets you write in an entirely new selector or rule without having to edit an existing one. Does Firefox's native inspector have this feature yet? If so, I can't find it... and it's a gaping hole in their tools. One that keeps me on Chrome, unfortunately.
I use these guys. If you're OK with French they are awesome... But otherwise you may find some basic stuff rage inducing. Good boxes for a good price though, I'm happy.
Private trackers, especially private niche trackers, have far more obscure and interesting content than any single release group or TPB. Private trackers are full of very dedicated users that will go far and beyond to fill even the most absurd and rare requests.
The difference between private and public trackers is quite literally night and day, in terms of both content and security.
Also, there is Usenet which is great for quick release and sometimes rare stuff but had been hammered by the DMCA recently.
Honestly, it isn't that difficult any more to find nearly any foundry that hasn't already recognized the webfont movement and have web licenses available. Also, the myriad webfont services already out there have growing libraries that usually cover either the font in question or something similarly useful. I can't tell if your example is from personal experience or manufactured, but even Frutiger is readily licensable for web use through MyFonts.com.
So, let's not forget that!
I concede, though, the trouble here is the webfont-subscription model, though relatively affordable, isn't exactly ideal due it it's reliance on a service rather than self-hosting (though some services and foundries offer this kind of license as well).
While I think it could have been handled better, the idea of rewarding people who leak sensitive information (especially for a company like HTC, who is struggling for relevance on the brink of collapse) about flagship devices and IP is absolutely ridiculous.
Was it mind-boggling absurd that a "Communications Manager" at said company threatened and berated a kid in a public forum? Undeniably so. It's so blatantly wrong that I sit here, gobsmacked that people still say these kinds of things[0] on Twitter and then think they can deny it ever happened after they delete it.
But, really, you're asking HTC to roll out a red carpet for this kid and entice future leakers to hold company secrets hostage for prizes in the future...
Does anyone know if I can add custom classes to the insector in FF? I currently use the Aurora build and can't seem to find a better way to do it. Chrome DevTools have a handy little '+' that lets me add any class I want to the stylesheet... but in Firefox I am limited to only editing existing classes.
This is a minor annoyance but it's enough to keep me from being fully ready to switch to FF.

I have been living in Seattle just over a year now. Maybe I've yet to get the full experience, but I have to say that after being warned about "the freeze" I've found nearly every person I've met here to be incredibly calm, warm, friendly and inviting.
To compare, I previously lived in NYC and DC-Metro area... both of which I found to be riddled with many more rude and unwelcoming people. In NYC about the nicest thing you'll ever see someone do is give up their spot on the train. Other than that, you'll be snarled at for nearly anything else.
