To stop excessive use by bots. You don't want everyone just scripting and pulling data at insane rates. Also to validate you are in the country as it's paid for by the government you don't want the whole world leeching off it.
They don’t. Why would they. Alot of them are just complete grifters and waiting for that big pay day in the sky after they get acquired by FAAAAAANNNNNGGGG or any number of the subsidiary’s. If your app claims to “revolutionise” something completely mundane and trivial like getting a shower or eating a sandwich and you value it at $5 billion then it’s a load of bollocks.
I can guarantee you, most of what the UK thinks it knows about the healthcare system is just parroting nonsense and stereotypes they’ve picked up online. OMG!!!111 “357 trillion gazillion pounds for a plaster for a cut finger!” Or, “It’s cheaper to rent a space shuttle from NASA to get to the hospital than call an ambulance!” All that exaggerated BS.
What’s even more staggering is that most people in the UK, many of whom haven’t been 100 miles out of their hometown, somehow have strong opinions on the US healthcare system.
Yes, the system can be predatory at times, no question. But let’s not jump to conclusions here. The murderer was clearly driven by some kind of ideology. We need to establish the facts first. That said, it’s highly likely insurance denied something—for him or for someone he cared about—and he hit a breaking point with nothing left to lose.
