My guess it had happened a few times in the past and had always been "glitches" or passenger doing something silly which also gets blamed as a "glitch".
I'd be perfectly fine with visiting the site to get the image if there weren't tons of blog/twitter type sites where it links to the frontpage and you have to dig through years of posts to find the image you're after.
For the XY problem I kind of think it's fine to just help them with Y and let them discover Y wasn't an appropriate solution to X themselves. They might need help again with X, but they'll probably learn more from doing Y and discovering why Y was wrong themselves.
