Wow! I've been looking for something exactly like this for a long time. I am a motovlogger (which is someone who rides a motorcycle while vlogging) and I generate tons of small videos that I've always struggled to organize. I'll need to use random videos from months and months ago sometimes and it's so easy to lose track of them when you have thousands upon thousands of small short video clips.
One question/request I might have is if it is possible to attach a general note to a specific file. It's helpful to know what a video is about without having to watch the whole thing.
Tho FWIW I use Postmark to do my email delivery because then at least I know my email will end up in the inbox of the recipient vs their spam box which my hosted server was having problems with.
Agreed completely, I recently had to work with some EBCDIC output files from old mainframe systems. Packed string data in a fixed delimited file. Nail bitingly frustrating stuff.
Could you share which TED talk? My wife and I are about to buy a house with the hopes of turning the land into a permaculture food forest and I've been trying to find a way to leverage my development skills to bolster the farm skills as well!
Maybe a little more heavy handed but I use huginn for exactly that. Read in numerous RSS feeds and digest them into my email box. It does a lot more than that too.
