That is just a symptom of the problem as the tyrannical administrative bureaucratic police state expands at exponential rates, to cheers and demands for ever more control by mommy and daddy government.
But to your point, you are correct, the only people left on the wrong side of the law are law abiding productive people who do not have personal connections to law enforcement. Ever other group gets treated with a light touch and has excuses made for them and criminals are now getting off the hook left and right, while the anarcho-tyrannical administrative state increases it's abuses of regular productive and peaceful people.
It's either by design, out of desperation, or due to incompetence; but it will not end well for any of us, regardless.
You are quite mistaken on the low cost, you pay wildly higher taxes all your life, even if you never went or benefit from a University degree, let alone benefit from paying for the eduction of foreign nationals who never paid a dime in taxes and then leaves Europe for the USA once they have a degree and can get higher income at a lower tax rate there.
I find it rather annoying that otherwise supposedly intelligent people that likely frequent this site simply cannot understand basic economics, let alone accounting and have essentially no moral compass for lacking any thorough understanding for these matters.
Not even that, but your fake low cost European education that that poor commoner pays ~50% of their income in taxes to support, is also not universal at all and is actually quite corrupt, with the children of academics and politicians getting into University at far higher rates than a system that were not corrupt would allow for.
So, no, not only is the Europeans education model horribly immoral and unethical as foreigners and the ruling class's children get "low cost" education, while the working class slaves pay for it with their taxes and are stifled in their life due to that enslavement through taxes, but it is also not low cost.
That is not technically accurate even though that fallacy/lie has been spread spread for a while now. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land … translation, it applies to everyone downstream from that, including politicians and the government of increasingly concentration of psychopaths (and no, that does not only apply to the current administration).
In order to understand this concept that is either intentionally or stupidly being manipulated, one has to understand that the Constitution created the government and, relevant to this point, protects preexisting, God given rights, from violation by that government; the Bill of Rights as most would know them as. They are actually not a Bill of Rights as people today would understand from the term, but rather they are articles of the Constitution that protect those rights, essentially laws that the government of psychopaths cannot violate to infringe on those God given, preceding rights.
So to your point, yes, the government may not infringe on the God given rights, but that also applies to all others whom are subject to the jurisdiction of the supremacy of the Constitution, aka, all people who are not subject to the primary jurisdiction of a foreign nation, aka guests.
You cannot pick and choose which of the articles of the Constitution apply to the government and now; or would you propose that slavery by the government is not permitted, but it is A OK for everyone else to engage in slavery? I understand the compulsion to evade logical consistency to rationalize how one article of the Constitution does apply and another does not, but that is not accurate and is inherently fallacious, irrational, and inherent uncivilized, brutish, and animalistic.
If you are referring to what I think you are, I agree. All of this abusive and manipulative argumentation about these things comes down to the fact that freedom is being curtailed more and more with every passing day, with people arguing more and more how "we just need to do one more thing to curtail people's freedom and then we are done" … but it's never enough and they are never done. There is always some other argument and reason to further add shackles to people's minds and ankles.
In the end, all of this only adds immense amounts of volatility and instability and totally unsustainable risk that will invariably blow up.
The Constitution was developed to allow people to live and associate and speak freely … that has been chipped away at for decades and even centuries now. It's sad and sick, and will only ever result in calamity as the USA, the only place on the planet where you used to at least be free, is being shackled by useful idiots who have no idea they are doing the will of the world dominating global ruling class.
It's not a disconnect, you are simply not understanding because you are clearly very authoritarian minded.
The right to free speech is a God given right that the Constitution is the highest law of the land that prohibits the government from infringing on. Through the legal supremacy clause, the laws of the Constitution apply and supersede all other inferior laws and jurisdictions.
I actually agree though that the tech tyrants should be allowed to censor if they wish … once they built a private internet that is not using or funded by public resources. Problem solved, censor away. That would be akin to censoring someone in your own home, but you cannot censor someone outside of the home, because you are infringing on other's right to free speech. What you are actually doing is rationalizing that Google and all the other tech tyrants have the right to censor what you say in public … because the internet is public … it is not private unless it is operating solely on private resources … which NONE of them are. You are advocating to control others, what they want to say to others, regardless of whether you want to hear it. You are not only trying to control the speaker, but you are also trying to control the listener. It's not healthy.
As to your other authoritarian and tyrannical point; you are literally trying to force someone to do something against their will and yet you still cannot see anything wrong with that. It is not healthy, you are not healthy. You are in fact dangerous and evil in your desire to spread and impose harm on others and want to control others.
Why does the world need to go after malaria in Africa? Why can't Africans go after malaria in Africa. It's so racist how mostly Europeans treat Africans as children that need to be taken care of and don't let them do things on their own. It's extremely racist, paternalistic and Noble Savage racist to the core. What, you Europeans think Africans can't figure things out for themselves? Stop it.
Unfortunately, the same incentives that keep us from both developing or government requiring/legislating that the underlying capabilities, i.e., video/audio conferencing, be interoperable (i.e., you can call people on GoToMeeting/Teams from Zoom, or vice versa); will also likely prevent them from putting out any good information on these events. Video conferencing is yet another example of a monopolist trying to take the whole market.
I realize that the old internet of distributed services and actual competition is likely something those who grew up in the facebook world will not even have a conceptual understanding of, but all of the monopolistic type centralization of services (everyone on Zoom, everyone buying from Amazon, everyone using Uber, everyone getting information through Google, etc.) is immensely dangerous, to a degree that simply cannot be overstated. Its digital, literal monoculture, where one event can have devastating cascading impacts.
In many ways the current virus situation is precisely that, a devastating impact due to a monoculture created and pursued by globalism, where diversity is destroyed and everyone is an equal and controlled human entity. The very crowd that is always demanding "diversity", is also the crowd destroying actual diversity by destroying differences and trying to turn us all into the same, equal thing.
