I didn't see the majority of the piece because the kids were acting up, but I must be missing something. Why is this a big deal when it's the SAME company's browser that the user is using that is showing products/services at the top for the SAME company's products?
Why can't google have their own products'/services' links at the top of all search results?
I'm chiming in late in the game here, but what's wrong with Salesforce? (Only reason I ask is because of the piece that I just saw on 60 minutes Sunday night, so your comment piqued my interest)
Now I have a problem with either Gmail, or Register.com because the username/password for my new domain-specific email address is not working. I've reset via register.com, then going back to gmail, still doesn't work. Awesome! (insert sarcasm here)
I know alot of you smart ones think this isn't that great, but I think this is incredible. I'd love to see someone host this someplace so I can just upload an image and see what it spits out.
I'm not smart enough to take the code and get it running...
Now I'm getting really worried. What's a good identity theft company/product that I should sign up for to handle any potential repercussions from this?
Would any of those [potential companies/products] have a clause where they WOULDN'T cover any problems because of known data breaches prior to signing up for their service?
FYI - my parents refused to join Facebook, so they started a Cluster account. I have no idea and the privacy and stuff for that, but it works for them.
I started the website http://www.wrestlestat.com 3 years ago. It is a college wrestling website where the main feature of the website was to be able to view common opponents between 2 wrestlers. There's no other product out there for this, so it's 100% unique. In addition to that, it provides, rosters, schedules, results, statistics, rankings, as well as 2 different fantasy platforms.
Now, is this successful? To me, yes. When I started it originally, it was just a "fun" side project, the first website that I developed once I got into web programming (10 years on client server architecture prior to). It's a 100% free site, but I monetize through AdSense. Taking out my hosting costs, it doesn't make very much money, but it IS profitable. No way I'd be able to make a living off of it though.
So in my eyes, yes it's successful, in terms of HN folks, probably not so much. But I'm having fun with it!
P5 = Power 5 conference, ie ACC, SEC, Pac12, Big12, Big10
