Uh... this seems like an unsubstantiated claim. It's my understanding Amazon has multiple team actively working on manual and automated anti-fraud including for counterfeit.
I think there's more inherent problems to this:
1. Making it easier for sellers to sell, mean it's also easier for fraudsters to do so.
2. Being so popular and central means all fraudsters focus their energy on it.
