my only issue is that it cares if you are off by 1 minute, meanwhile in the real world a lot of analog clocks have continuously moving minutes and a lot of others have ticking minutes (they only move right at the minute mark).

Its not essential. Good organization. Good functional configuration. Proper separation. Good variable naming. All of these things are what make it more than easy to work without type declaration. People have been working on huge code bases without types for a VERY long time with no issue, especially in functional paradigms.

They have said time and time again it was because their C# team was writing frontend code in a huge codebase and wanted similar support.

You really should just not assume things about people with no reason other than "they dont like the things i like so therefor they must not be experienced". I've worked on plenty of very very large codebases with large teams.

> What a nonsense. Perhaps read history of TypeScript and you'll learn why it was created.

did you? it was created by microsoft, a C# shop, to support their existing workflows around typing and hinting support. The typescript creation team was literally led by the guy who made C#.

I still do argue that for JS. I have yet to see it worth the effort other than making things feel comfortable for former OOP devs coming from other languages.

edit: the downvote button HN is not for disagreeing with comments or unpopular opinions. please dont turn hn into reddit.

I'm still not sold on typescript. I've used it off and on professionally for years and it has always just felt like a maneuver to create a safehaven to C# and java devs scrambling to find roles in the modern landscape. Doing purely functional with it is or at least was an absolute chore and so much extra typing happens for extremely obvious variable values that you could derive from the name of the variable. YES you technically can do functional programming (but as i said its a pain) and YES its optional and you dont have to use it everywhere, but try pulling that maneuver on a technical team "lets use typescript where we each feel like it".

I am still of the opinion that well organized and named JS is all that anyone needs and typescript only exists for fresh graduates and fleeing OOP devs.

edit: also the downvote button HN is not for disagreeing with comments or unpopular opinions.

for CVE's, maybe.

You couldn't have possibly verified that. Stock prediction based on what? What's your sample size over what period of time? Using what indicators? how far is your lookback?

that works for people you regularly watch, but what about the people that put out the rare random great video. or a video on a topic when you're trying to fix something. People dont subscribe to those patreons, and thus those kind of creators rely on ad revenue.

Was this comment made by an LLM? i dont know anyone who drops "blast radius" in casual conversation besides claude.

Thats because the user stopped becoming the customer from the point of view of the development team. The customer is now people who deal in data collection and analytics and gates and funnels.

This isn't reddit man, no need for this kind of reply. They were speaking in-context of the article in this post.

I just want to call out that this is a weirdly hostile and aggressive comment for a place like HN. HN is mostly used by working professionals it would be nice if people treated each other better here.

my training on a 10x10 just randomly broke. i got to like 3600 then the graph went flat, the viewer on the left just showed it constantly restarting the game, and the scores in the negative. my average is now -10.

then its not open source. That's just shared cad files which mcmaster carr does.

i mean Apple kind of used that position for building a good reputation. their whole thing is/was how secure their devices were and how they had human verification on all apps that went through the app store with a clear intents file (a file the describes exactly WHY an app needs permission for bluetooth/etc), and a secure enclave that prevented even the FBI from getting in (while apple refused to give them a backdoor). Hackers and tinkerers will find a lot of these measures to be an annoyance and authoritative control, but a lot of people just want their phone to a product, not the user.

unfortunately they hold it in the wrong direction. At least when it comes to updates and feature retention apple is one of the leaders. Even this website posted here shows that most of the software stuff is just rolled into other native apps instead of being abruptly cancelled (lookin at you google) with no recourse where to go.

need is a weird thing to hinge off of as software itself doesnt have "needs" and most software thats made doesn't fulfill a true pure "need".

No other customers asking for the feature is not a signal that its not wanted by many others. Other people suggesting the same thing is a terrible measurement, as suggestions from paying users is already an incredibly small amount of users and some users may just thing it would be nice but not enough to warrant sending in a request. For example: it would be nice if I had a one-click export of my favorites on HN to a markdown. I'm not going to write to them to suggest it because it's not a big deal, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't improve my experience using the the product.

This is only true for gear hoarders. Many many many people still shoot film or use high end cameras explicitly for the end result.
