I've noticed this as well, past couple of years it has turned into more panel/ytuber focused, less about the actual projects showcased on the ground floor. Not to mention, it is pricing out many from attending.
This is the right attitude. The amount of people who's world crumbles when they get banned and heavily depend on its engagement and income is too high.
In terms of Bluesky/Threads, etc. When a platform's intrinsic value is that, "it's not the other platform", it won't last or will only track very niche and closed-off groups. What does Bluesky offer that is unique/different?
Federation, as the post mentioned, is something the average user doesn't care or is beyond their comprehension. Too much friction as it is implemented, the best way is to organically and transparently implement it, if it's even possible.
Can also include motorcyclists/cyclists, which aren't necessarily considered "athletes". Maybe "recreational use" might had been more apt.
Really wondering if this can be combined and standardized through ECE 22.06/SNELL/MIPS. ECE is probably the best bet for testing something like this, SNELL is too strict in its testing experimentation.
Absolute lunacy from this proposal. They well know the current timeline for phasing out ICE vehicles is actually not going that well and they want to further accelerate that timeline? That's just plain greedy, they know Tesla is dominating the EV market atm, this will hurt and slow down current manufactures.
We are already seeing Ford slowing the production for the lightning line because the demands is just not there, there is a huge gap in infrastructure to support the upcoming wave of EVs.
People are just very hesitant to jump the EV boat, and well justified. EV charging is a mess of apps, unreliable charging rates, and just general availability in non-metro areas.
Threads will be good for brands since they won't have to worry about controversial content, though eventually everything is going to be bland content if you are being censored to what Meta thinks is "appropriate". Though could be interesting if they pivot towards a more topics/community model.
The fact that this topic is so touchy, even in the tech/science circles which by far are the most "progressive", tells us that there is a lot of unresolved definitions that aren't talked about because of fearing to offend.
It is absolutely insane that we are allowing the destruction of culture in this manner. Can people not leave works for what they were? What has happened to today's society that everything has to be sunshine and rainbows, they can't enjoy anything without being enraged by something they don't agree. Should we only consume media that we agree with? What a boring life that is.
