I completely disagree with this article. Yes, helmets may increase the risk of other injuries (not inclusive of "I am hearing a helmet, I am a invincible" injuries), but the benefit of reduced head injury vastly outweigh the increase in other injuries.
On another note, there has been quite a bit of development into helmets in the last 5 or so years. Check out MIPS system [1]. It basically allows the head to move independently of the helmet increasing the "time" of the impact and also reducing oblique forces on the brain. Does it 100% work? Who knows. Is my head priceless, yes.
I find Sourcetree to be a pretty great product, with some negative marks here and there. I use it on W7 and OSX and find the "tabbed" interface of Windows versus the separate windows of OSX much easier to work with, especially on large products.
Some issues I have:
- The app does have some lag at times. I really wish the app would update with local changes and remote changes much faster. Commits can also take some time.
- I know how to use the application, but it could really use some better explanation/help around some features. For example, how to set up SSH keys and how branch/merge/stash/tag work. This would make Sourcetree much easier to learn for new users.
Thoughts on using this as a cache instead of memcache or redis? Yes, it does not have nearly as many features or functions but when raw performance is needed I could see this working (given an api for using this via Node.JS, PHP, etc.).
Amazing how little this was publicized and promoted compared to Baumgartners jump. Undoubtedly because Redbull used FB's jump for marketing, but still a feet like this should have had more media exposure.
On a side note: If the marketing/publicity budget on this was so much lower, and the design was simpler, how much less do you think this cost compared to FB/Redbull Stratos?
Since this is HN and most people here have written code, I compare multi-monitor setups to a text/code editor with a single panel/pane. You just don't do it! Sublime, N++, Atom, etc. all support multiple panes (split screen). Once you get coding enough you never go back to using a single pane.
Same thing with multi-monitor. As long as you are productive (unlike the author), more screen real estate is better (obviously, there are limits)
Personally, I like dual 27"s. Allows you to run 4 full size (think 8.5"x11") word docs at 100% side by side. Very nice!
The point of JSON is to have a standard way for data-interchange. Adding the complexity of "sometimes you might have quotes, sometimes not" and "you can display multi-line strings in different ways" gets away from this.
JSON is great already. I don't really see this as necessary. I could understand the comments (but use // instead of # as per Javascript comments) to increase clarity to people who don't know the original design syntax. But the others do not seem really useful.
This is simply great. I can see this definitely helping expand the base of students who take on computer science or technology related fields of study. With these fields growing already, adding a package like this simply allows students to learn faster and use some of the best tools the industry offers.
While there are alternatives (Atom -> Sublime or Notepad++) for many of these services, the bundling of this all together should present students a logical next step instead of hunting around for a service right away.
My reasoning: Tesla has vehicles (for sale or in plan) in three segments: high-end sedan, CUV, and mid-range sedan. Building a coupe would fill another segment.
Also, the 2-door market has lots of models (2/4/6 series, C/E/S class, A5, CTS) that are priced high. Attracting higher income buyers to Tesla from these companies with a 2-door would be a very logical next step.
The "+" icon in the upper left corner throws an error when you are not logged in:

Also, when you upload a pic for the "screenshot", there is no confirmation after the progress bar disappears. No thumbnail, no "Ok, pic uploaded!". Nothing.

It is a new feature, like Apple Wave [1]. The LG G Flex [2]already proved the flexible technology. Apple is just giving consumers the option to have a curved phone </sarcasm>
Am I the only one who doesn't really consider iOS's widgets to be actual widgets? At least on Android I can "do" something with the widget. Example: GMail or email widget....I can read through my inbox; calendar...I can see my next events. The iOS widgets just create a shortcut for me to need to open the full app.
