I would say there are significant differences.

You're not paying towards ownership of a SaaS site. You're paying a monthly subscription fee.

If you're 34 months into a Dropbox subscription you don't own anything. If you're 34 months into your car payments you might have thousands in equity in the car.

Even getting outside of the ethics -- Lots of cities in the US are also automobile-dependent and turning off someone's car seems counter-productive.

We definitely need to push back on these types of controls aggressively, including advocating for consumer protections.

I'll also add that the survivability of a photo is probably related to the quality of the photo itself. I imagine there were a lot of examples of bad or uninteresting photography that were just lost to time.

I'm sure there's bias and variables to this I'm not considering and outside influence, but most of my portrait photography groups and feeds I follow still contain mostly women models.

I'd also say that taking GOOD portraits in 2023 still requires work. I generally set up the models and use external lighting. It is easier for sure, but there's still intention and purpose.

With digital photography I think the main benefit is that I can take 50 shots that are roughly the same with no consequence, to later cull until I find the perfect frame.

Austinite here. We have one of those "efficient" power grids. Works great. /s

The last time I looked at Unihertz, as an American, it didn't make sense. The antennas were (completely?) unusable here sadly.

Maybe something has changed? I love some of the Hisense E-Ink phones as well -- same issue.

We've shifted our focus to this for an internal project because the standard OpenAI privacy policy is VERY confusing and vague. It has some spots where language conflicts itself. Our corporate lawyer read over it and gave a hard "no" just because of the ambiguity of the policy.

We still need to review Azure OpenAI but on the surface it's looking to be the best option for Enterprise.

We were going to use Open AI (API) for an internal project but the TOS is VERY vague on data privacy. It says your data isn't used in some spots, but then also says the prompts are in other places...

I believe we've shifted to looking at Azure OpenAI which appears to use the same technology stack but be more privacy/enterprise focused. But I think the jury is still out on how "private" that is... Need to have a call with their sales team.

Yeah I work in sales for EA software and we deal with really large enterprises. I see smaller companies and startups using Slack, but most of the big boys are heavily invested in the Microsoft ecosystem.

You're going to probably have to use two different sets of software for that.

We use Jira for project management, and then Avolution ABACUS for the actual EA Repository. There's not really a tool that gets "into the weeds' with development and project management, but generally you can import/export relevant info like KPIs and feed roadmaps from ABACUS.

Probably can't Google it, no.

But there's a thousand other ways to get that exact info, even/especially online.

Drugs are expensive for the same reasons. Most of the people who want to do them still do, just at a higher price.

Regulation is fine, but prohibition rarely works.

I will try this out this evening.

I want to test how well it generates config files for well-documented software packages like i3wm. Give it some natural language instructions for hot keys and default window behavior and let it go wild. Maybe generate some theming for polybar/rofi & resources based off what I actually want the output to look like.
