Anyone know how much Google would realistically offer someone with 4 years of presumably irrelevant rails and sql experience?(As in, NOT in ('c++','java','javascript','python')
I'm predicting not much - and I bet they believe a significant part of the "compensation" will be the "privilege" or working at google.
What really bothers me is that youtube and instagram are full or lifting/exercise guru that presume to give people useful advice(and frequently sell things).
Except most/all of these people that claim they are natural actually take steroids. Steroids are such a force multiplier - they will completely overpower mediocre diet and training. A natural lifter could do everything perfectly and still fall far behind the results of these so called experts.
Annecdotal, but I've experience this personally. These rankings grossly neglect the availability of entry level jobs. And you end up studying a bunch of stuff that is borderline useless for any other career path on a practical level.
I consider trying to become an actuary one of the greatest mistakes and waste of time in my life.
When I switched to programming, it was like some kind of magical door opened and all of a sudden and the process of finding an entry level job was no longer the equivalent of banging my head against the wall, repeatedly.
