I was in prison as AI became a thing, didn't spend all that much time on the internet. Regardless, the LLM-writing stood out immediately. I didn't know what it was, but it didn't take any learning to realize that this is not how any normal human writes.

Unfortunately the linked Garnett translation is censored, and then further neutered by the translator who prioritized a very accessible end result at the cost of losing much of the meaning in the source material.

I’d recommend the Penguin Classics Maguire translation, it remains accessible but loses less of the original.

Similarly the location of your mobile phone is public information, for technical reasons it has to be. Just like aircraft, your phone constantly broadcasts identifying information for all the world to hear. Additionally, just about anyone anywhere in the world can query the phone network for information about which cell tower your phone is connected to.

I suspect many would not be very happy if there was a twitter account tracking the location of their cell phone.

I would’ve expected American prison calls to be much more expensive, here in Finland local calls from prison cost 3.60 euros per hour. Calls abroad can easily cost 10s of euros per hour, even within EU.
