I can dig this; eager to tinker with it later. There are a few options in this space (Broot being my favorite). The ability to define custom commands (as Broot does) is powerful. Will be watching this repo; thank you for Projectable and best of luck to ya.
So I need to setup prometheus, granfana, node exporter, and cadvisor before running this? All of the above give me everything I need to monitor a swarmcluster. And if I want multi-user access to the graphs, I’d configure auth in Grafana.
Further, if I were to monitor Swarm without the Prom+Grafana stack, I’d be looking at:
You’re right. The line to draw here is really non-commercial vs commercial, personal vs business. Though I can’t think of a simple way about it that does not rely on some trust (e.g., a business self-identifying itself as a business and paying up, despite it being easy to lie and freeload).
I’m happy to hear that my fear is justified, lol. But yeah, starting out I was just happy for the validation of people using my things. Now I don’t need the validation; if fewer folks use my app, but those who do pay and enjoy it, well I’d happier for that (and my wife would be too).
Fair point about support. I’m okay with the responsibility of patching bugs, but buying a license key to my app doesn’t mean I’m employed by the company to build features and custom functionality (though I get some business may expect otherwise). i.e., please buy my artwork, but I’m not required to help you hang it on your wall or do interior design.
The point about making something new given my experience… I think I have done that naturally, and that may be the thing that I capitalize on. Essentially my app may assume a freemium model, where certain features are “premium” and require payment. I guess the daunting part is the work in establishing and enforcing the walls, all without diminishing user experience. I spent a large part of the day reading up on how to make this happen, it doesn’t look as daunting as I thought this morning. Thanks for your input.
Interesting. Happy that I make a conscious effort to keep things as stock as is reasonable. UBlock, Bitwarden, Dark Reader; I assume I’m sitting comfortably in the 99%.
LMK when the Vim plugin is live ;-)
