I've been recommending to all the people I work with to use Excel add-in Power Query to connect to data and do all calculations and transformations. Then they can just replace/update data sources and refresh queries. It's somewhat more accessible for non technical people than Power Pivot/ DAX/MDX. it's easy to make tabular dimensional record sets ready for consumption by pivot tables, Tableau, etc. You can choose to keep data in model instead of showing in worksheet to bypass row limits and connect model to pivot table. Best of all it teaches people ETL, better data management, separation of data and report.
When applying for US jobs I am always a bit startled by the questions that ask me to categorize myself by race. I know this is meant to protect against bias in hiring but you are forced to categorize yourself with each application. It makes it hard to just be people applying for a job.
Seems simple enough for AirBnb to do. I'd bet a curious Airbnb data scientist has already done it. Do analysis of users' ethnicities/names/profile skin color/gender/ attire etc where booking cancelled for one person but allowed for another in same time period immediately after cancellation. Hosts with many such cancel/book patterns should be penalized. This would have flagged OP's friend doing second booking.
Good strategy is to move all data transformation into Excel add-in Power Query and leave raw data in original format. No more copy/ paste of data. "Fat finger" events are minimized. Using PQ gets you moving towards more robust business process, data management and IT architecture.
I scraped my 'people you may know' page over 30 days to make sure LinkedIn removed 2000 of my 'stolen contacts' from it. Once they did, 99% of them never appeared again. http://009co.com/?p=9
Great app! Serious question: why hasn't something like this become a standard app if not OS feature? It is something I have always wanted. Want something similar for Android phone too.
Yes and send issues and documentation back to operational teams so they can address root issues in transactional systems. Software selection and system design should have this input by default to avoid implementing data issues.
"Revitalization" might be better word than "disruption" to explain what is required of corporate sector.
But corporate sector is adopting "disruptive" technologies and methods such as cloud, analytics, ecommerce. The problem is it is incremental and interstitial rather than comprehensive.
