My worry is that discord will require the ID of everybody at some point or another.

Now that they are going public I think every real user will have to identify themselves. The way they do it I think will be a staggered rollout of requests. So they use the guise of this algorithm to state that no everybody will need to verify but when it’s your turn to provide your ID they just wait for the next instance and lock the account to teen level until you do it. Given they say they will do ongoing monitoring to place an age group, this I don’t think is far fetched and increases the value of the profiles for the shareholders.

This would make a mass exodus nearly impossible too as too many people already sit in the side of it’s not a problem if it does not effect me. The result is it will effect just not enough people to cause such a large exodus.

I don’t think this spect is talked about enough. Companies that enshitify don’t do it all at once. It’s bite by bite.

Despite how much we know in medicine we still know too little. Bloodwork will give you a snapshot of that persons blood chemistry. It’s still up to the doctor and lab to put together what that composition means. In other words, if there is too much iron in the blood there could be x number of reasons for that. Most might be benign, and a small handful could be life threatening.

(Not a doctor just surrounded by them)

For US companies and its citizens, trading stock enough to send a message and make a difference is in the hand of the top X% of people. Those same people don’t have to worry about the same things we do. Their income tier makes them operate fundamentally differently. When you have a team of lawyers on call you can get a lot done quickly. For us companies depend on us deeming it not worth our time and money for a chance to right a wrong. On top of that companies are at times misusing or breaking the law for decades before they are taken to justice. And that justice is more and more just the cost of doing business.

I could go on and on, but I would rather face down one tyrant than an army of them. But the way things are going, we might be facing both soon.
