What I find the real problem is not JIRA itself, but the fact that most of the time JIRA, is abused up to a point where it's become unusable. The inability or unwillingness (or both?) of the teams I've worked with to structure their work, write good user stories and keep things simple is in my experience the root cause of any shitty JIRA experience I've had. Of course it doesn't help per se that JIRA allows you to do that, but I guess that's not the tool's fault. (You can write bad and good essays with Microsoft Word).

I remember (can't find it anymore) a company whose CEO specifically hired people for life, considering them to be part of the family and as you wouldn't fire your sibling or child, they would not fire someone if they were to have prolonged issues. Rather, they'd try and help them for as long as it takes.

It created a completely different dynamic in the company where no one feared for their jobs if they had issues.

Without actually writing 'TL;DR' though. A well written email, letter or anything really, usually starts with the gist of the message. "Don't waste people's time" by fluffing up your texts.

(Unless it's a novel, but then the goal is to build up a story to an apotheosis)
